Painting Challenge – Finished!

The Painting Challenge finished yesterday.  Congratulations to Smash on getting everything done.  Squelch purchased a new house in the middle of the challenge, and so was unable to complete everything.  But congratulations on what you did complete.  I also completed my last model, Saxon Orrik, last night at ~ 10:00 PM local time.  Pretty crazy month for painting.  Final results below the fold.

Painting Challenge – Week 4

One week left in the painting challenge – next Sunday is the last day to turn in.  It has been  a ton of fun, and since my illness is finally leaving my lungs, I am on track to finish everything on time.  Smash is as well.  Looks like Squelch got caught up too much with school.

Current status below the fold.

Painting Challenge

So I decided I needed a kick in the butt to get my painting going again.  I have decided to issue myself a challenge, to finish up a 35 point list (not that it is a list I would ever run normally) by the end of the Dark Secrets league (4 weeks from yesterday, Sunday September 9th).

Why do this challenge?  There is no prize, except finishing with painted models.  Really, what it boils down to is that I have a desire to get everything painted, and I do best with lists and targeted “by when” dates.  This allows me to have a goal.  Lock & Load was a huge impetus, but my painting has flagged substantially since then.  This will also give me the publicity and public shaming if I don’t do it, which can be a huge impetus on it’s own.

I want to make something clear – the whole point of the challenge is to focus on what you think you can realistically commit to getting done (even if it is only one model) in the time allotted, and then attempting to get that done in that time allotted.  I am choosing to do a 35 point list – but if you have school, full time job, family, are a slow painter, etc, you might not be willing to commit to that much.  Which is fine – it is more about giving people an opportunity to set goals and to keep those goals.

I offered up the challenge to others, and two other brave souls have stepped up to it.  Both smash and squelch have agreed to give it a try.  The lists, and current status of the painting, are below the fold.
